About Jason L. Merritt

Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales

Jason works with private equity funds on the routine transactional documents that surround every deal and every relationship — NDAs, engagement letters, process and side documentation — at a fraction of the cost of a leading law firm.

He trained at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in London, with a seat in the firm's market-leading Private Equity Funds practice. He then spent over three years as an associate in the finance team at Norton Rose Fulbright in Paris, followed by four years as in-house legal counsel at Natixis covering structured finance, asset leasing and portfolio management. Since 2023 he has worked as an independent legal consultant within Ontra's network of specialist private-funds counsel.

He is admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales (admitted 2015), holds the Legal Practice Course from The University of Law and the Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP Law School, and read Anthropology at the London School of Economics. He is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and works in English and French.

The proposition is simple: high-volume routine documents handled quickly and properly, without the overheads of a City firm.
